GYSD Celebration in Turkmenistan
Related to country: Turkmenistan

GCE students in Turkmenistan joined the world community to celebrate Global Youth Service Day (GYSD). The idea of Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is mostly concentrated on making active youth of any country to perform community useful and benefiting projects applying all their knowledge and fulfilling community’s urgent needs. One of the most active participants of this event were the semifinalsts of TeachAgeGirls Project in Turkmenistan. Being true leaders of their communities Tech Age Girls-Turkmenistan project semifinalists have a great potential to apply their knowledge of Informational Technologies (IT) during the GYSD in Turkmenistan organizing Environmental Issues Discussion.
In an effort to promote understanding of IT methods among community people TAG semifinalists conducted series of trainings on IT for groups of interested community public. They gathered a group of youth or other community people interested in ecological issues in the regions. Comprehending all the effectiveness of depicting one or another important issue in one amazing picture or a photograph, TAG semifinalists put especial attention to the picture editing program use trainings. After the group gets skills necessary to work in this kind of software, group leaders – TAG project participants encouraged everyone to think on one or another environmental issue and draw a picture/make a photo collage using the photo editing software trying to make it in a way of strong and obvious acuteness of the issue. Group leaders were free to make an online consultation/discussion of the pieces that were made; choose the best one; discuss the issue itself; think of the ways that the issue could be solved or eased; discuss a follow-up activity. During the discussion group talked about the reasons of the evidence and what could be done in order to solve the problem. They created colorful posters and flyers calling the public resting in the park to keep the place clean; gathered up for a clean-up in the park. The consultation took a place offline but the results of it should be posted either on the Ecological forum on www.gcetm.net/forum or on the blog spaces that the TAG semifinalists would access to promoting this way public discussion of the issue.
